Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo
Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo
For use with Cats and Dogs.
Topical antibacterial, antifungal and antipruritic, descaling and conditioning shampoo for dogs and cats.
For the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with infections by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, Malassezia (Pityrosporum) pachydermatis and an aid in the treatment of dermatophyte infections due to Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes in dogs and cats.
Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo is formulated to remove scale, degrease the skin and kill cutaneous micro-organisms which primarily or secondarily cause dermatitis.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
CAUTION
1. Use with caution around eyes. If shampoo enters animal’s eye, flush thoroughly with clean water. Seek veterinary advice if eye changes are observed.
2. Animals should not be left unattended during the recommended 10 minute shampoo contact time as licking or inhaling shampoo foam may result in irritation of the gastrointestinal or respiratory tracts.
3. This product is not recommended for use in rabbits or species other than dogs or cats.
4. Atopic animals may develop a hypersensitivity to Malassezia toxins that are released when the yeasts are destroyed.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Wet the animal thoroughly with clean water. Apply Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo to the animal at several points and massage into the coat. A sponge assists lathering and penetration of shampoo into the coat. Ensure that Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo is applied around the lips, under the tail and between the toes as these areas harbour causative organisms. Leave shampoo on the animal for 10 minutes then rinse off thoroughly with clean water. Repeat twice weekly until symptoms abate, then weekly or as directed by your veterinary surgeon. 50 mL of Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo would be adequate to treat a 30 kg, medium hair length dog and 7-10mL of Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo would be adequate for an adult cat. When treating Ringworm (Dermatophytosis), all in-contact animals should be treated to limit infection spreading and environmental contamination.
FIRST AID
If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin or hair with running water. If splashed in eyes, wash out immediately with water. For advice, contact the National Poisons Centre 0800 POISON (0800 764 766) or a doctor immediately.
